Clothing Swap Chic

I wanted to wear pants so it would be easy to haul my big box of clothes up to third floor (but really heels kind of defeats that). I lucked out this morning and one of my coworkers carried my huge box from the elevator to my office.

I've been wanting to wear a big black belt ever since thebudgetfashionista blogged about them on Monday. Even Rachael Ray had one over her outfit yesterday.

I also whipped up a yummy squash (did you expect anything else?) hotdish to bring to the potluck. I baked it this morning and am hoping that my thermal carrier keeps it warm until lunch!

dress up

not quite a costume, just an excuse to dress up and not have everyone say 'why are you so dressed up?'

happy halloween!

Repeat Tuesday

Would you notice that it's a repeat if I didn't tell you? Anyway, I feel like this is the last day for boots without tights (70 degrees?) and so I took advantage of it.

Tomorrow there is a clothing swap and potluck in one of the offices at work. Is it weird to be rummaging through your coworker's old clothes while you eat lunch together? I'm bringing a big plastic box of stuff that I don't want and am eager to go through all of Genevieve's gorgeous things! Now, what am I going to bring for food? Squash soup?

plain jane

nothing spectacular for me today either, will spend most of it in a computer lab anyway. cant decide between a red necklace or a red headband.

maybe kelcie is wearing the same thing as me today? yesterday we had esp.

should we post our halloween outfits on here? is that considered an outfit worthy of our blog?

Nothing really that spectacular

Just a shirt and a skirt and a cardigan.

thanks julie

red knit scarf that i have matching gloves and hat to, its not cold enough yet for those.
wearing my $1.50 ankle boots, but covered with pants so i dont look silly for owning ankle boots ;)

Business on Top, Party on the Bottom

I forgot that my boss was coming in and wore jeans today. He has a tie on. Whoops. Oh, well. It's Friday.

Green Tweedy

Tweed skirts always lay weird, but I'll deal with it today. The best parts about this outfit are that my new charm necklace from etsy (which I received in the mail from Scotland yesterday) matches beautifully and wearing Jessica's cream wool over coat that she sold to me (and that I still owe $25 on).

The coat even got a compliment from the guy at the coffee shop.

grayness kick

the sweater looks better up close, rich ribbing on the edges. from the gap but found it at salvation army for $2.

also got a blue/white checkered dress for $4 that i will alter for dorothy on halloween. (targets were $40!)... ill be sure to do that in my spare time, heh.

Love purple and red

I'm not sure about this outfit. I never know how to wear this shirt it is such a weird color and print. But I really liked my red belt with the purple necklace two weeks ago and Saturday I got my red peep-toes back from the cobbler, so I thought they would liven up the dreary black and tan circle print. This week I'm really drawn to wearing black - trying to be chic or something?

This shirt is also supposed to have a tie around the neck but I removed it in favor of the necklace.

Also, I love these pants I got on sale from Express. They are sort of wide leg, but not much. They fit well and are very comfortable.

I got my dry cleaning back

So, I have lots of options for my favorite combo of pencil skirt, cardigan and collar shirt. This blue find is from salvation army and everything else is from last year:)

j crew nautical ?

i want to go on a yacht in this outfit, and i really wish i had a giant silver anchor pin. not sure how long i will last in these shoes but ill be a trooper like julie and stick it out :)

tried to not look sad, turned out sort of dorky (imagine that)

First Post!!

Hi Jess and Julie, thanks for allowing me to guest post! This morning in the bathroom at school (of all places), Jessica and I were talking about how yellow and black makes you feel like a bee. Hence the gray! Yellow waffle tank and black skirt from urban outfitters, target tights (which somehow look greenish in some light), yellow patent dot flats from heartbreaker (supercheap) and the best parts: yellow beaded necklace made by me, rediculous 80s dot earrings from a garage sale, and vintage gray belt inherited from a relative of Sam's.

Wideleg

Wideleg = Good
Highwaist = Not so sure

These are not as flattering as I'd like them to be. I think they are a bit too big. I tried some other sweaters tucked-in this morning, but stayed within my comfort zone with a cardigan.

I added a long necklace to make it look more modern and less mom-ish (I almost feel like I should be in the Mom Jeans SNL skit), but in retrospect, a scarf would be good too.

I need to find some wideleg, lowrise pants. I think those exist - I saw them in Lucky, so they must.

P.S. Lucky continues to mess up my subscription and thus I have an extra October copy - want it?

black velvet

julie was my inspiration :)
$3 black velvet jacket from target, polka dot shirt, and guess what... jeans!
i stole some long necklaces from my mom and knotted them. i told her they were too stylish for her anyway!
ill probably put my black boots on instead of the glitter flats today.

HURRAY the weekend is here!

Jeans

Some very dark blue jeans from the consignment shop down the street from my house, Express clearance black and white pin dot jacket, Vanity clearance teal tunic (from a million years ago) and a long silver necklace. Target tweed pumps.

I realize now that I need some silver chandelier earrings too.

It's raining AGAIN today

I wish this rain would quit so we could have a little sunshine and I could wear pants with out the bottoms of them getting all wet. I almost wore pants today, almost.

No grandma hose today, it bugged me too much yesterday. Free skirt from a clothing swap, clearance Target collar shirt and BR outlet sweater.

Maybe jeans tomorrow? Maybe.

Purple shoe day

Jessica and I are on the same color wavelength with our matching purple shoes. Perfect.

Variation on a theme

I wore nude hose today for the first time since maybe March. It seems weird and granny-ish and I don't like it, but I didn't think any of my other tights would work with this outfit.

A navy and white polka dot (forever 21 clearance?) satin button down (2 buttons missing that I fixed with safety pins), banana republic skirt from last year, Target cardigan and my favorite Target purple suede peep-toes.

I took my red peep-toes and navy pointy pumps to the cobbler on Saturday to have new caps put on the heels. Can't wait to have them back and in circulation.

Green Herringbone Jacket

Is that embroidery I see on your right shoulder? Very lovely. Also, love the new red couch slipcover.

Electric Blue

This may end up being the new uniform: collar shirt, cardigan and pencil skirt. This skirt has tiny blue pinstripes that don't show so well in the picture.

A pretty color for (another, jeez when will it be sunny again) gloomy day.

Real Shirtdress

I don't know if I like this outfit today, but I feel wrong if I don't wear a skirt. That's weird right? Anyway, ignore my square biceps from my sleeves and focus on the cute jcrew belt.

I think it's time to start wearing pants, just running out of ideas.

quite muted for me

light pink aldo pointy shoes with a brown bow to match, almost perfectly to the light pink tank underneath the $4 white target shirt and $1.50 brown gap cardigan.
brown chunky necklace from san fran.

Casual Friday 013

I'm being comfortable today. So that means fuzzy brown sweater and navy VS pants that I swear were too small last year:) And *shock* flats, cause my pants are short.

sideways stripes?

probably not allowed, but ill wear my coat. debated between the turquoise heels or just black ones.
im very happy that its friday!

Faux Shirtdress

A black wrap/collar shirt and black skirt made to look like a dress with my red belt! Purple necklace cause I needed more color (also wearing my Virgin Mary bracelet to tie it together).

You can't tell from the picture, but my tights have a very intricate diamond/fleur de lis pattern. And some patent peep-toes from Target. I swear they are making their shoes bigger cause these are 8s and I could definitely have gone smaller. Of course me feet could be getting smaller, but I doubt that.

burgandy to match my nails!

sorry so fuzzy, roommates are home so picture is in my room with crappy camera.

you cant really tell from the picture, but on one side of the cardigan theres a big velvet flower applique thing with a removable rhinestone pin for the center. salvation army last year!

i think i dont go a day without wearing or accessorizing with something that has been from a thrift store.

debating...

with a jean jacket for the walk to class.
i think i need tights?

Turtleneck!

I was inspired by Jess yesterday and pulled out my pretty pink turtleneck to wear today. Along with this clearance Target skirt and my opaque black tights from dance team in high school. I can't believe they still fit! Of course, they ARE made to stretch. These are the best tights because they don't snag easily and are nice and warm. And they are good for this skirt because they are very opaque and the lining doesn't fall to the hemline.

And of course we can't go anywhere in a skirt these days without some boots:)

Tuesday, October 09, 2007

hey! look at me!

glitterfied.
probably shiney-overload, sparkle buttons, black necklace, and glittery flats. i dont mind though!
$6.99 turquoise cableknit turtleneck from gap outlet. wish i could say i were hiding hickeys, but i havent seen dave for weeks.

sweaty dance time

our hot outfit date to the girl talk conert last friday.
:)

Salvation Army Skirt

I don't know about this outfit today. I'm very 'rosy'. But it's time for tights, wool skirts and boots!

Gray

I wanted to wear this all last week, but it was way too hot. The pockets on this skirt sometimes keep me from wearing it, because they tend to flare out. But it seems to fit okay today. The belt may be a little too wide for this season, but it looked better than my leather one that I have to fake a hole for and the tail wraps all the way around to my back.

Also, new Target tweed pumps!

matchy matchy!

the orange and lighter orange in my scarf match my shoes perfectly. taking julies advice and wearing a skirt when it pours all day long so my pants dont get wet.

still need some pink rain boots!

must brag

brand new, still had tags and extra buttons attached at salvation army: $15.
go to target, see it on rack: $59.99
i was just telling julie i needed something in this royal blue color, and there it is, my perfect coat.

i LOVE salvation army

Rainy/warm Friday

It's raining out and who likes to have wet bottoms of pants? Not me, so that means a skirt. (Really, everyday warrants a skirt.) This one may be too short for work, but I doubt if anyone is going to come in today that will care and it IS Friday. It used to be ankle length, but I've slowly been shortening it as it unravels and I can't stand the fringe anymore.

And what better to wear in the rain (if you can't wear wellies) than plastic jellies! Quick drying and unharmed by water.

I'm a bit matchy-mathy today, but I don't care. Technically I do have my 3 color rule on, it's just that two of them happen to be very similar. I might even wear this to Girltalk tonight...

I think I may have found them

$34.99 at Payless. But, I'm thinking there may be some for a similar price at Famous or DSW or Herbergers. This nice warm weather is giving me lots of time to wait for sales!

Repeat again, but it's so nice out, I have to keep wearing summer

This is my Target clearance plaid halter dress. With a little cardigan on top. I don't really like how the necklines conflict, but the cardigan is cropped in just the right spot.

Repeat (gasp!)

Blue and white wrap dress, in a slightly different iteration. Pointy navy pumps and pink cardigan. We're having happy hour after work and this will do quite nicely for that:)

another spash of red

i got the red shirt at salvation army for $1.00, it has a built in side scarf to tie. the print is a bit much so i covered most of it up with a target clearance cardigan.

sorry about not posting the yesterday, been uber busy with school projects, and my fashion probably sucked. although on monday i added the bright yellow pointy toe flats and received a lot of compliments, even my environmental law professor loved them :)

Bright

Hot Pink for a gray sheath. And some substantial stacked heels to keep me balanced.

new photoshoot location

my new gap outlet red and black polka dot umbrella needed to be shown, as it is a great accessory.
also, i really have been looking for a great coat. or two or three.

http://cgi.ebay.ca/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=270170376566&ssPageName=ADME:B:WNA:CA:12
i want this, right?

Tweedy

Consignment store skirt from the cute shop around the corner from my house. Banana Republic outlet sweater from last Fall. And the same boots I wore everyday last week. The photographer at church yesterday had the cutest knee high boots yesterday - I'm on the lookout for a good deal...
