im showing fall who the boss is

grey and black day! julie, we have fashion ESP.
i spruced mine up with the teal heels and matching shirt, and silvery black scarf.

I don't know about this outfit today

I know gray is in for Fall and all, but I don't know if this outfit works or not. I could use a little more color (considered a skarf, but thought it would be too much pattern with the knit and stripped skirt, decided on gray chunky beads instead) and I wish the neckline of my camisole was the same as my sweater. But, I've been wanting to wear this sweater, that I inherited from Jess, for a long time. I swear this skirt didn't fit when I put it away last Spring - what a nice surprise this morning! It's definitely been a boots week. I'm dying to wear a jean skirt with my cowboy boots tomorrow!

tuesdays outfit

i couldnt post yesterday without a mouse. here is my new e-spirit bag for $1.50 from salvation army. i think it counts as vintage? i had a read headband too.

i must report, from the pink/white outfit on monday. a boys comment about me: you dress better than anyone at this school.

:) MISSION ACCOMPLISHED!

Jess came to visit at the Capitol!

So we took our picture together. We have matching boots! Her mouse is broken on her laptop so, she is unable to post until she buys a new one:(

Purple and green

Green clearance JCrew dress with a purple, tie-back belt stolen from another dress. Long sliver necklace with boots. P.S. I'm feeling 100% today and yesterday I had one of my best runs ever:) But, sadly, my antique pearl necklace broke - was it getting caught in the rain, or should it not have been worn? I'm hoping to have a jeweler restring it for me.

Indian Summer

I'm still recovering from Octoberfest on Saturday night, so I'm not feeling so hot this morning (at least I can keep my breakfast down). Hence, I feel a little wrinkled today. But, I went antiquing (am I too young for that?) on Saturday morning and bought this lovely pearl necklace from an antique store on West 7th in St. Paul. A pearl necklace is on my fall to-buy list now that I don't live with Jessica and her three-strand one:) Also, am looking for pearl earrings, but I might have to buy fake ones from Claires.

pink is my favorite!

dying to wear my leopard print shoes, but i think i have to lose the polka dot scarf to do that, what do you think? i could also wear my hot pink barbie shoes too. today i spent way too much time deciding what to wear!

friday = throw something on

i am nowhere as cute as julie is today, but a black cotton dress i use as a swimsuit cover up, with a splash of purple. the cardigan has an argyle-y pattern to it, not shown in picture.

Happy Hour after work!

That calls for a dress and I totally love this one (guess where it's from), I almost wore it for my date last night (I ended up taking your advice with the purple/maroon dress, purple peep-toes and black cardigan, sorry no picture, but I was hot). I added my pink cashmere cardigan so I don't freeze at work and (scandal) pink low heels again (I know I'm matchy). I wore this to church last Sunday too, but I didn't post, so it's kinda like it never happened, right?

I want these

They are 30% off on BannanaRepublic.com but they are still $173.60! Do you think Payless makes a version?

Standbye

I over slept this morning, so I just put on the easiest outfit I own. Pretty, happy floral skirt that I wore, like, a million times this summer and low hot pink heels.

orange and purple

im still holding onto summer with capris and tan wedge sandles. i know thats not allowed, but im confident enough to break 1 fashion rule.

since everyone loved my american outfit yesterday, i decided it was okay to do another scarf. this one is from an antique store in crookston i believe. thank you old lady who decided to sell it!

Pencil skirt

Polka-dot pencil skirt from San Francisco Goodwill. Pink chunky bracelets and pumps for contrast:)

walking america!

tell me before i leave the house if this is too much americana. the red flats are my patent peep toes today, and yesterdays were the burgandy suede-y ones with bows from target clearance.

mary olson-esqe

im blue and red today, debated a red bow belt, but figured that would be too matchy matchy. what do you think julie mae?

Wild pattern for a rainy day

This dress is a little much. I can only wear it once in a great while, but on a dreary day like today it doesn't look so garish. Yay warm weather for bear legs!

cali day

pink patent shoes from san fransisco, and pink bracelet from a palo alto shop. got to love pink and black! i will again match my water bottle, wallet, and make up bag when i go to class.

Wrapdress Monday

It's probably the last chance I have to wear this forever 21, navy and white pattern, dress without tights for the year. I decided it wasn't too much pattern to add my sailor shoes with bows. They, unfortunately, are the most uncomfortable shoes I own. Mostly, because they are a 1/2 size too big (the only ones left online). But, I'm keeping them just in case my feet grow if I'm ever pregnant (my mom is shorter than me with bigger feet - pretty much inevitable).

Pink cashmere for sewing in a chilly house

I ran some errands in my favorite hot pink cashmere cardigan on Saturday. This was ultra cute with my brown trapeze coat over top. I went to Treadle Yard Goods and got a couple books, a pattern and some lovely fabric to try out my new sewing machine.

I cleaned the machine, wound the bobbin, threaded the needle (with the only thread I had - hot pink, no less) and was all ready to go. But, unfortunately, I cut the fabric wrong and turned it into scrap. Live and learn.

Finally Friday

It's so cold even I don't want to wear a skirt today.

Belted long shirt with brown slacks and purple peep-toe shoes. Too much brown with my trapeze coat? Probably, but I'm only wearing it for a little while, so it's okay. I would have done khakis, but I thought the dark brown looked sleeker for Friday.

Dressing like it's Friday

Cause it will be too cold to wear this jersey dress tomorrow. I'm wearing my cowboy boots! I need a long necklace from Jess, my rhinestone circle will have to do.

practicing for real scarves

am i pulling this off? i cant find anything suitable for class and a bbq after, with kickball.

I feel like Jessica today

This is a very Jessica outfit - boots and a long necklace. Sorry, I'm so blurry. Maybe I'll go take another pic in the bathroom later.

P.S. I really wanted to wear my cowboy boots today. Maybe tomorrow...

hello fall!

i feel sort of barney-ish but i like it together. purple lace and green corduroy! put me in a magazine!

We have Special Session today

Yay! Excuse to wear my clearance Victoria's secret suit

Lazy Monday

I drove up to Mahnomen and stayed in Bemidji last night, so this was the smallest, easiest outfit to pack. I must say, I am freezing today. Instead of sandals, I should have tights and boots on! I just can't help hanging on to the last bits of summer.

ordinary student day

navy cableknit sweater with long navy necklace and the green/blue ann taylor flats!
im sorry that my bag is black and i will be clashing for class today. good thing nobody would notice except julie!

Cheerio!

The guy at the coffeeshop told me I look very "London" today with my trench coat. It feels "London" outside, so I guess that works. This is my clearance ($13), plaid, halter Target dress. I also layered a white cardigan (I searched high and low this morning for my chunky navy one to no avail) and pointed navy heels.

Oh and btw, I'm pursing my lips in the picture.

Out for drinks

I love my pink sash belt and chunky pink bracelets (that are too much for work) that I wore last night to meet Dede and Andrew for drinks at Bonfire on Grand.

im working on my poses

i had nothing to wear today. bad day to advertise what im wearing but im meeting chris for coffee, going to stats lab, and then driving up north all day.
and this weather? who knows.

also, if i wanted to be matchy-match i could wear these ann taylor ballet flats that i found for $6. cant decide.

Last week of summer dresses continues

Clearance JCrew coral (although it looks orange here) with a tank and cardigan so I'm not scandalous at work.

Julie posting for Jess, cause Blogger sucks for her right now and she needs to go to class

Jessica says, "this is my new favorite dress, and i have it in black too:)"
Julie says, "Supercute. Yay dresses!"

Wednesday, September 05, 2007

yes, i do have hips

my fashionable craft project/headboard replacement

clearance wrap dress with strappy red shoes from ebay. bargain outfit day! the print is a little wild, i know. but i will tone it down with a dark denim jacket later at class, or maybe a cardigan?

Strapless JCrew Dress Day Two

I may have worn a similar silhouette yesterday. But no one really sees me up in my office anyway. Today its a red and blue polka-dot, embossed beach dress with a Target cardigan I had to buy special yesterday. Cause I don't live with Jessica anymore and even though I have a whole plastic box full of cardigans I don't have a red (or an appropriate navy) one. Finally, navy pointy-toe pumps (Jess, I really wanted to but, I decided to not do the sailor shoes with the red bow - a little too Mary Olson-esque.) and I'm out the door.

the minneapolis girl is posting

fake snakeskin ballet flats. good to walk across campus!

as a general warning, expect julie mae to be more 'young urban professional', and me to be more 'stylish grad student who has to walk 1.5 miles to class.'

It may be after Labor Day...

but it's still 85 degrees and sunny so I'm taking this last opportunity to wear my new (j.crew final sale) pink and white striped strapless dress (with a cardigan so that it's appropriate for work). I would have liked to add my turquoise strappy sandals with this, but my pedicure is horrendous and I couldn't for the life of me find a nail clipper this morning. Thus, light pink pumps (a little matchy-matchy) will do.

Things spotted at the MN State Fair

Check out this cute lady in her hat and heels at the Leinie Lodge:

Generally, I like this lady in her eighties style sun dress. Minus the black hose and sandals:

Ankle boots? Really?

Please, no.
